Security Shear Nuts
Security Shear Nuts are available off the shelf in steel zinc plate, stainless steel or galvanised mild steel, with other sizes and materials available to order.
The Security Shear Nuts has a conical shaped body with a hexagonal nut at the top, this means that it can tightened using a standard spanner or socket. When the hexagon nut section is fully tightened with a standard spanner or socket until the pressure applied surpasses the maximum torque limit it results in the hexagonal part of the shear nut to snap off (break off), leaving a plain tamper resistant cone shape.
Due to the security drive design of the security Shear Nut it is suitable for higher torque applications and is a ‘1 way’ permanent fixings making it the ideal security fastener for applications where maintenance is not required.
Security Shear Nuts offer a premium security resistance against vandals and thieves and are often used in applications that require optimum security and are often used in security perimeter fencing, automotive and in public areas.
Within the industry security shear nuts are also referred to by other names including Snap Off Nuts, Break away Nuts, Break Off Nuts and Breakaway Head.
